Manchester United have started their search for a new manager for next season. The Red Devils are reported to have been conducting interviews with various candidates for the manager’s position. Among the known prospects for the job, it is reported that current Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag has also been interviewed for the position.

Manchester United have not had the best season yet again. The Red Devils have no trophy to play for yet again this season after being knocked out of the UEFA Champions League in the Round of 16 against Atletico Madrid. The Mancunian club had also been knocked out of the Carabao Cup by West Ham United earlier in the season. The Red Devils then lost out to Middlesbrough at home to get knocked out of the FA Cup.

Manchester United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjær from the manager’s position after a series of disappointing results. The Red Devils replaced him by appointing Ralf Rangnick until the end of the season. But things are not going as planned under the German manager as well because of poor results and dressing room unrests at the club. Manchester United are now 20 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City as well.

Manchester United were one of the favourites to challenge for the Premier League title this season after signing Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane in the summer. But things have just not gone their way with dressing room unrest, captaincy issues and most of the players out of form.

The Red Devils have identified Erik Ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino to be the main candidates for the manager’s position for next season. The club have already interviewed Ten Hag and it is reported that the interview went very well. Manchester United were apparently left “impressed” after the interview was conducted with Erik Ten Hag.

However, Pochettino has not helped his case for the job as his Paris Saint-Germain side crumbled out of the Champions League by bottling a 2 goal lead. The Parisian club have not been in great form this season. This has helped Ten Hag’s case and the Dutch manager is considered to be the front runner for the job next season.

It is also being reported that during the interview with Ten Hag, the current Ajax manager wanted to hear about the Club’s budget and their future plans. This was apparently a point which impressed the Manchester United board a lot and they were left “impressed” with Ten Hag’s “vision” and “philosophy”.

The majority of the fans want Erik Ten Hag to become the new manager as well. The fans are reported to have been impressed with his style of play and what the Dutchman has achieved at Ajax with a limited budget and most of the young players sold. The arrival of Erik Ten Hag will also mean young players will get a chance and fringe players like Donny Van de Beek will get a chance to showcase their worth in the Manchester United jersey.

The Red Devils’ fans are hoping for major changes in the tram for next season and some players are not up to the standard and will hope Erik Ten Hag is given the chance to have a complete rebuild at the club to fight for major trophies such as the Premier League and the Champions League again. Manchester United have now gone 5 years without a trophy, which is the longest trophy drought in their history.
