“Manchester United is one of the best teams in the world”- Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has high praise for United ahead of their UCL clash on Wednesday

Atletico boss Diego Simeone has boldly labelled Manchester United as one of the best teams in the world ahead of their UEFA Champions League round 16 first leg tie at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday. Ralf Rangnick’s men do come into this crucial tie having recorded back-to-back Premier League wins against Brighton and Leeds respectively. The Argentine international was quick to praise the effort and commitment by interim manager Ralf Rangnick and said that it has made United an intense and dynamic team.
“In front of us (on Wednesday) is one of the best teams in the world. In their last 14 matches I haven’t seen a bad game and they’ve only lost once. The arrival of their coach (Rangnick) has made them solid since he’s been working with the team. He has given his commitment and we are seeing the Man Utd we expect. They are fourth in their league. The team has evolved since the arrival of the coach who has impacted the team in some way because you can see it. It is an intense team and dynamic team.” Diego Simeone said in his pre-match press conference ahead of the UCL round of 16 tie against United.
Atletico also come into this game with a 3-0 win against Osasuna at the weekend. However Simeone will be without Matheus Cunha and Yannick Carrasco due to a knee injury and suspension respectively. While Antoine Griezmann and Luis Suarez will only make the bench for Wednesday clash.

After getting knocked out of FA Cup and Carabao Cup Manchester United trail league leaders Manchester City by a whopping 17 points, the UEFA Champions League is the only hope for a chance of silverware this season for Manchester United. The Red Devils definitely have the quality with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba, Jadon Sancho and Crisitiano Ronaldo can make things happen in Europe for United.
However it a tough ask for United to go all the way to lifting the trophy let alone make it to the Champions League final with teams like Bayern, PSG, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea all alive and in the mix to get their hands on the coveted trophy at the end of the season.
