Manchester United player clarifies why he posted a tweet with somebody edited into the background
Manchester United captain Harry Maguire revealed that he was trolling a friend, who’s a Leeds supporter after the Manchester United captain confused fans with a photoshopped post on Twitter.
The centre-back opened the scoring against Crystal Palace on Sunday as United move closer to cementing their position in fourth place in the Premier League with a 4-2 victory over their old rivals. As is customary, Harry Maguire made a celebratory post on social media after the game, tweeting ‘You Reds’ alongside a picture of his knee slide after scoring, but fans quickly realised there was something off about the post.
If zoomed in properly, one could see how Maguire photoshopped the face of an unknown man onto someone in the Elland Road crowd. Perplexed by the mystery head which has been photoshopped, fans started to enquire about it.
Harry Maguire then took to Twitter to clear the doubts and revealed that the person is a friend to Maguire. In the tweet, he said, “For everyone asking, it’s my good mate, a big Leeds fan. He was at the ground but not in the pic. He’s been giving us some stick all week so thought I’d add him in.“

Manchester United player hit with objects by Leeds fans
The Manchester United manager, Ralf Rangnick, condemned the unsavoury scenes which led to Anthony Elanga being struck by a coin from the Leeds United stand during a fiery contest at Elland Road on Sunday, with the hosts investigating the incident.
Elanga was hit by an object from the crowd in the aftermath of Fred’s goal which made it 3-2 in the visitors’ favour. The 19-year-old was unhurt and recovered to score United’s fourth in stoppage time and secure a vital three points on an afternoon when Rangnick’s side had earlier squandered a 2-0 half-time lead thanks to two second-half goals in two minutes from Rodrigo and Raphinha.
“As far as I know there is some investigation going on from Leeds United,” Rangnick said afterwards. “In the end, Anthony looked well and he was happy about scoring. Obviously, things like that should not happen.”
