French striker Kylian Mbappe sent a heartfelt message to French basketball star Victor Wembanyama for being drafted into the NBA for the first time in 2023. The 18-year-old sensation from France was reportedly selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs. 

In his latest Twitter post, Kylian Mbappe wrote a heartfelt message congratulating his fellow Frenchman for his recent success. He said, “Wemby…The story begins now.”

The youngster made history as he became the first French player to be selected No. 1 overall in NBA Draft history. In a recent interview, while talking about his achievement, Wembanyama said, “It’s accomplishing something that I’ve been dreaming of my whole life. Hearing that sentence from Adam Silver, I’ve dreamed of it so much, I gotta cry.”

The 7-foot-2 inches tall, Wembanyama has reportedly made a great impact on the basketball community for several years now. The player’s great skills, versatility, and a towering presence on the court have reportedly drawn comparisons to legendary players like Kevin Durant and Dirk Nowitzki.

Spurs reportedly recognized the player’s rare talent and future potential and made him the first overall selection in the draft. The team entrusted the French basketballer with the responsibility of leading them into a new era.

Kylian Mbappe breaks another record as he becomes the all-time leading French scorer in one season

France’s goal machine Kylian Mbappe broke another record while his side maintained their run in the Euro 2024 qualifying Group B. They won 1-0 against Greece who finished with 10 men because of a late send-off.

Paris Saint Germain’s talisman scored a penalty in the second half of the match. This goal marked a new milestone for the striker as he became the all-time leading French scorer over a season with 54 goals for his club and country. This record was previously held by Just Fontaine in 1957-58.

In the post-match interview, France coach Didier Deschamps talked about his side in the match.

Mbappe’s goal from the spot kick in the 55th minute of the game helped France beat Greece. They now sit at the top of their group with 12 points.
