Back in 2018, Eden Hazard was regarded as one of the best football players in the world. He just won the FA Cup for Chelsea and was captain of arguably Belgium’s best team. In the same city, Dele Alli is making his mark, signing a 6-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur and captaining the side as well. Around 400 kilometers away, Jesse Lingard has become one of Manchester United’s most important players, finishing the 2017/18 season with great numbers.
Five years later the trio are in the limelight for the wrong reasons. Hazard has retired, Lingard is without a club and Dele Alli is considered a liability at Everton. Once considered some of the best stars in the Premier League are no longer the players they were five years ago.
Hazard moved from Chelsea to Real Madrid after winning the Europa League, with Real paying £146.1 Million and him earning £400k per week. Despite high expectations, injuries limited his time there to just 54 matches over four seasons before retirement.
Dele Alli, once valued as one of the world’s top midfielders, saw his form decline, leading to his sale to Everton in 2022. Struggling at Everton, he managed only 13 appearances and was loaned to Besiktas, where his performance fell short. His last match was on 26th February 2023.
Jesse Lingard, once a promising prospect for Manchester United, struggled to maintain his form. Despite a successful loan spell at West Ham, he failed to replicate it after being bought by Nottingham Forest in 2022. Released after another disappointing season, he is currently without a club.
Fans can’t believe the current state of these three stars
Famous Twitter account, UTDTrey, tweeted out how the three players fell from grace. He also mentioned how Chelsea and FC Barcelona have been struggling and took a dig at Arsenal for not winning the Champions League. Many fans felt bad reading out the fates of the players.

Recently Jesse Lingard was in the news after United legend, Paul Scholes, publicly called him out for not playing football. But now it looks like he’s finally getting a chance to return, as he is close to signing for South Korean club FC Seoul.
