Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp‘s wife Ulla Sandrock reportedly played a crucial role in persuading him to extend his contract with the Reds. The German who will depart the club at the end of the season, might have departed last year if not for Ulla’s influence.

The Liverpool manager made a shocking announcement on Friday, that he would depart the club at the end of the current 2023-24 season. Klopp cited ‘exhaustion’ as the reason for his decision. Last year, the German extended his contract until 2026, but now his time with the club will end early. He’s been with them for almost nine years. Surprisingly, The Times reported that he almost left last season and was close to joining Manchester United.

Upon his wife Ulla Sandrock‘s insistence, Klopp changed his mind and extended his contract with Liverpool. Ulla persuaded him to stay and lead the squad’s revival. Liverpool owes much to Klopp’s wife, not only for convincing him but also for her generous act of distributing £1,000 worth of food vouchers to supermarket staff during the Covid-19 pandemic.
