Mikel Arteta is the top candidate to coach Real Madrid after poor results from the Champions League winners

Who is likely to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid at the end of 2022-23 season?

According to reports, Real Madrid is considering Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta as their next head coach to replace Carlo Ancelotti in the upcoming season. The Madrid board is currently not happy with the club’s results as they trail 9 points behind league leaders Barcelona and 1-0 in the second leg of the upcoming Copa Del Ray clash.

The Gunners are dominating the Premier League with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool and currently stand on top of the table 5 points clear. Considering Arsenal has one of the youngest squads off the tournament, pundits have applauded the Spaniard for overturning the club’s hurdles and developing young players like Bukayo Saka and Madrid hopes to do the same if they are to acquire his services.

Carlo Ancelotti led the club to domestic and European successes in the previous season after winning the Champions League and Spanish competitions missing out only on the Copa del Ray. The players had been in top form with star player Karim Benzema probably enjoying one of his most successful campaigns after scoring 44 goals in all competitions.

However, the Los Blancos players seem to be out of shape as they have been on a poor run of form recently after 3 consecutive matches without winning. They trail 9 points from the top and are on the verge of getting knocked out from the Copa Del Ray with the Champions League their only hope for trophies this season.

According to reports, Marco Asensio is pushing for an exit to other clubs including Barcelona as the Spanish international is unhappy with the club’s performances and the number of minutes he is receiving on the field. The player’s contract expires this summer and a number of clubs are seemingly interested in the services of the 3-time Champions League winner.

Several outfits such as AC Milan and Arsenal have also registered interest in the 27-year-old, who is willing to listen to what Los Blancos’ bitter rivals Barcelona have to offer him.

However, a move to the Catalan Giants seems unlikely as the club is in a huge financial hurdle and will have to free out massive finances if they are to sign any players next summer, according to La Liga president Javier Tebas. Also, they already have competition in the winger positions where Asensio plays and will have to fight for his position if he is to join the club.
