5 most suitable clubs for Cristiano Ronaldo if he decides to leave Manchester United in January

5 most suitable clubs for Cristiano Ronaldo if he decides to leave Manchester United in January

Cristiano Ronaldo scored 24 goals in all competitions last season, but under Erik ten Hag, he has lost favour, scoring just one goal in one Premier League game. The Daily Telegraph reports that if a good deal comes in, Ten Hag will let the 37-year-old leave in January. In this article, we’ll look at five teams where Cristiano Ronaldo might transfer in January:

1. Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich finally decided against signing Ronaldo despite selling Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona during the summer transfer window, and have since started to play Sadio Mane through the middle. Mane has received criticism for his performances, and Bayern has had a rough start to the season. They are presently third in the Bundesliga.

El Nacional claims that they regret not signing the five-time Ballon d’Or winner in the summer and may submit a bid for him in January. Ronaldo would provide Julian Nagelsmann’s team with an attacking focal point and fill the gap left by Lewandowski’s departure. The 37-year-old would dearly love to add a Bundesliga title to his collection in addition to his three Premier League trophies, two La Liga titles, and two Serie A titles.

2. Borussia Dortmund

Erling Haaland was replaced by Karim Adeyemi and Sebastien Haller after Borussia Dortmund sold him to Manchester City in the summer. While Haller was diagnosed with a testicular cancer after feeling unwell during preseason training, Adeyemi is yet to score in the Bundesliga. Jude Bellingham and Marco Reus are presently the team’s top goal scorers with three goals each, but Dortmund have struggled to score goals this season.

Ronaldo would be a temporary solution for Dortmund, but he would provide them more firepower and help them climb the standings. To sign with Dortmund, the striker would need to significantly lower his salary expectations, but they will be able to offer him regular playing time and access to the Champions League.

3. Napoli

Another alternative that Ronaldo might take into consideration in January is going back to Italy, where he previously played three seasons with Juventus. The striker was named Serie A Player of the Year in 2019 and 2020 after scoring 81 goals in 98 league games for Juventus. Since he and Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis get along well, Jorge Mendes pitched his client to the Serie A team in the summer.

Victor Osimhen was reportedly the subject of a potential swap deal, but nothing came of it. As they strive to win their first Serie A title since Diego Maradona’s era, the 37-year-old’s addition to their squad in January may provide them with an extra boost.

4. Sporting CP

Ronaldo’s second stint at United hasn’t gone as planned, but in 2023, he might make a comeback to another of his former teams. Before leaving Sporting for United at the age of 18 in 2003, the forward progressed through Sporting’s academy and registered five goals in 31 first-team appearances.

Ruben Amorim, the manager, reportedly had concerns about signing Ronaldo and vowed to leave the team if the forward was signed against his desires, according to The Times. If Amorim, who is supposedly at the top of Wolves’ shortlist of managers to replace Bruno Lage, departs, a move for Ronaldo might be rekindled in January.

5. Inter Miami

Cristiano Ronaldo

David Beckham-owned MLS club Inter Miami are set to offer Cristiano Ronaldo a way out of Manchester United with a contract worth £ 30 million per year, reports The Daily Star. Ronaldo, who is a regular visitor to Florida, could make the move in January, with Phil Neville’s Miami planning to replace Gonzalo Higuain, who announced his retirement last week.

One stumbling block, however, is that the deal is on the condition Ronaldo joins Inter on a free transfer, with United – who insisted on a fee when clubs enquired in the last transfer window – seemingly content to retain him for now.
