Chelsea veteran John Terry outright denied having any influence in the appointment of Graham Potter on social media on Monday. JT is a known admirer of Potter’s style of play. Terry was with Chelsea for about 20 years and won several titles. He is presently in charge of Chelsea’s youth team.
On Instagram stories, replying to a fan question, “Did you get Potter the job?” he replied, “Absolutely not. I tweeted that I loved watching Brighton play and his style of play. I have nothing to do with the first team. I’m working with the 18s and 21s and love my role. Clearly, results are not good enough, and we need to get a settled team.” Chelsea probably spent $600 million in the January transfer window, yet the squad still hasn’t managed to win a game since the window has closed. According to reports, Potter is feeling the heat of the management.
Chelsea is now ninth in the Premier League rankings, 10 points from the Champions League berth, after drawing against West Ham United. Potter’s side is underperforming as they average 1.05 xG each game, a serious misfiring for a club with so much firepower. They will now turn their attention to the Champions League as they face Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16.

Chelsea might appoint a new manager
Chelsea is reportedly interested in Pep Guardiola following Graham Potter’s disastrous season for the Blues. Chelsea is expected to sack its new manager, who was appointed a meagre five months ago. Guardiola is also unsettled in the wake of the recent financial fair play debacle against Manchester City.
Guardiola is aiming to leave Manchester City after being accused of financial misconduct, and Chelsea is interested in signing him. “If Pep Guardiola became available, that’s someone I could see the Chelsea owners being like, well, hang on, this is an opportunity we should probably try and get him in whatever the circumstances are,” said journalist Simon Phillips.
Chelsea is having a rough season, but they will attempt to finish as high as possible. Their frontline is more than capable of outscoring any opponent and Potter would surely hope that the frontmen find their scoring boots as soon as possible.
