ADIDAS denies any discussion with Manchester United over Mason Greenwood, calls all rumours ‘inaccurate and speculative’

Adidas has distanced itself from disgraced star Mason Greenwood. After revealing his history of assaulting women, the German company cut ties with the player. The company has denied such action due to rumours of Adidas reuniting with Greenwood.

The 22-year-old Greenwood was charged with a number of felonies. These included attempted rape, abuse, and assault. The company distanced itself from the player when these charges emerged in 2022 and the payments were subsequently discontinued.

Manchester United since then has continued its internal investigation into the player. Greenwood has not played for them ever since 2022. Rumours of United sending the player on loan continue. Adidas also linked back to the player they previously contracted.

Adidas has denied any rumors of them being associated with the player and has now commented on this situation, “After inaccurate and speculative reporting within the media, it’s important for us to clarify that Adidas has had no discussions with Manchester United regarding any member of their playing squad.” 

Disgraced star Mason Greenwood trains with teammate

Mason Greenwood has been pictured training with Manchester United team-mate Anthony Elanga while awaiting a verdict in the club’s internal investigation. The 21-year-old was arrested in January 2022 on suspicion of rape and assault and later on suspicion of sexual assault and death threats. The charges were subsequently dropped in February.

Greenwood remains suspended by Manchester United but has returned to individual training. British Newspaper, The Sun, published photos of Greenwood training with Elanga on July 27, 2023. It is unclear what the future holds for Greenwood, but he will likely remain suspended by United pending an internal investigation.

Some reports suggest Greenwood could be on loan to another club, while others claim he could be sold. However, Greenwood may also return to the United squad if an investigation finds him not guilty of the charges against him.
