AFC Asian Cup: Schedule, TV Channel, kick-off time, and how to watch India vs Uzbekistan

The 18th edition of the AFC Asian Cup commenced on the 12th of January, 2024 in Qatar, with the home side stepping into the tournament as the defending champions. The tournament was delayed to 2024 keeping in mind the high temperatures in the Middle Eastern nation.

24 teams have been divided into six groups, each consisting of four. The tournament’s final will be held at the Lusail Stadium, located 20 kilometers north of the capital city, Doha, in Qatar. Twenty nations participating in the 2019 edition in the UAE have returned, with Tajikistan making its debut, and Hong Kong returning after a gap of 56 years.

India is the sole representative from the South Asian Football Federation in the AFC Asian Cup, making their fourth appearance in the 2023 edition. The team had a disappointing start, losing 2-0 to Australia on January 13. The Blue Tigers are under the captaincy of veteran forward Sunil Chettri, with Croatian manager Igor Stimac leading the team.

India’s AFC Asian Cup 2023 Schedule

India has been placed in Group B alongside Australia, Syria, and Uzbekistan in the AFC Asian Cup. After a 2-0 loss to Australia in their first match at Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan, India is scheduled to play against Uzbekistan on January 18 at the same venue.

Subsequently, the Indian team will face Syria in their final group-stage match at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor on January 23. The knockout stages are scheduled to occur from January 28 to February 10.

The AFC Asian Cup 2023 matches are being covered by multiple broadcasters all around the world. Live coverage is available on the Sports 18 Network, including Sports 18 1 HD and Sports 18 3 TV channels. The matches are also being streamed live on the online streaming platform JioCinema, free of charge.

Kick-off time

India’s match against Uzbekistan will kick-off at 20:00 hours IST (8 pm) on the 18th of January, 2024, while the match against Syria will begin at 17:00 hours IST (5 pm) on the 23rd of January, 2024.

How to watch India vs Uzbekistan?

India is set to take on Uzbekistan in their second group stage match at the AFC Asian Cup 2023, at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan. The Indian team, led by Sunil Chettri and currently ranked 101st in the FIFA Men’s national team rankings, will face Uzbekistan, ranked 68th.

The match will be broadcasted live on JioCinema and televised on Sports 18 Network channels. India will be gearing up to showcase their best performance against Uzbekistan, who hold an advantage over India after the previous six encounters.

India and Uzbekistan faced each other eight times, where Uzbekistan secured four wins and two draws, and India won only once. The last match between the two sides had also gone in favour of the Uzbeks, who won 2-1 in the 2001 Merdeka Cup in Kuala Lumpur.
