One of the most interesting tournaments in recent times – AFCON, is coming to an eventful close. The final set is to be played at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpe between Nigeria and Ivory Coast. With a reputation for giving iconic moments both on and off the pitch, AFCON didn’t disappoint in Ivory Coast’s latest game. The Elephants clinched victory against DR Congo as fans celebrated with cheers and dance moves in the stands.

A video posted on social media features a fan enjoying herself in the celebrations. She dances to the music along with the crowd as a fan seemingly awestruck by her performance looks on. Many pointed out the ‘staring’ fan in the video who couldn’t seem to take his eyes off the supporter. With Nigeria the clear favorites to lift AFCON, fans have rallied to support Ivory Coast in the final after the video of the Ivorian lady has gone viral.

Nigeria, led by Victor Osimhen up front have been ‘the’ team to beat at AFCON. Ivory Coast on the other hand have reached the final after defeating DR Congo, Mali, and Senegal in the knockout stages.

Fans root for Ivory Coast to lift AFCON ahead of heavily awaited final

The AFCON final kicks off on 12th February at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpe on Monday. As social media debates as to who will lift the coveted trophy after Senegal, a viral video has shifted fan opinion towards the Ivory Coast camp. The dancing lady has made many fans ‘switch’ allegiances, as a fan admitted that he now wants Ivory Coast to lift the cup.

Another added that only an Ivory Coast win in the final would be enough to see more of this, referring to the dancing fan. Nigerian fans did not stay silent either, with one fan saying that the Super Eagles would be there to spoil the party on February 12. Others made fun of Ivory Coast’s over-confidence and pointed out Nigeria’s clear superiority in terms of football.

Another boldly claimed that the trophy belongs to Nigeria and that Ivory Coast will have to delete all these when they lose the final. Others pointed out that the dancing fan wasn’t in face an Ivorian but rather French. A hilarious comment made by a Nigerian supporter read hoping is free, as he called the opposition fans ‘delusional’. From commentators singing Waka Waka to coaches pouring water on themselves and amazing celebrations, neutrals can only hope that the AFCON final doesn’t disappoint.
