AFCON is the gift that keeps on giving. As the Round of 16 nears its close, the competition has started to heat up. The likes of Ghana, Egypt, and reigning champions Senegal have been knocked out of the competition, as fans are buzzing at the prospect of more twists and turns in the competition. As Ivory Coast took on Senegal, the cameras picked up a hilarious moment on the touchline.

Ivory Coast overcame Sadio Mane and co to progress to the last 8 sublimely. The team, who are currently without a permanent manager, beat the defending champions 4-5 on penalties. As Ivory Coast fans and players took part in the celebrations, an over-enthusiastic fan was seen ‘yelling’ in the ear of a woman standing beside him.

While the man was brimming with enthusiasm and excitement, the recipient failed to replicate his emotions, leading to a hilarious interaction. The woman kept an awkward smile throughout, as he seemingly explained something in her ear.

She even resorted to a forced thumbs-up hoping the man would put an end to his ‘lecture’. With Ivory Coast qualifying for the quarter-finals, many have dubbed the clip as the moment of the match.

Netizens have taken notice of the hilarious incident which occurred during Senegal’s defeat against Ivory Coast in the AFCON. A fan brutally made fun of the man, asking the ‘uncle’ to calm down. Others pointed out how the lady looked ‘terrified’ as she was forced to listen to his lecture. A lot of comments pointed out how she hit the awkward thumbs-up at the person’s comments.

Moreover, several memes with a similar template (a man explaining something to an uninterested woman) were spammed in the comments. Others drew similarities between Cristiano Ronaldo and Conor McGregor‘s interaction at a boxing event. Additionally, fans laughed at how the cameraman showed no mercy to the fan, making such an awkward moment go viral on social media.

Meanwhile, a fan also said that he was trying to sell her match tactics and explaining how Ivory Coast managed to win. As for Ivory Coast, the team has managed to make it past the reigning AFCON champions and into the final 8.

Adding to their joy is the fact that they managed to do so without a permanent manager in place. They sacked manager Jean-Louis Gasset after losing 4-0 to Equatorial Guinea.
