Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has become one of Saudi PL side Al-Ittihad’s top targets, and the club is willing to make a surprising move for the Egyptian in the summer transfer window. Salah’s contract with the Reds lasts until July 2025.
The 31-year old Egyptian forward has been an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s line-up since arriving from Roma in 2017. In 332 appearances for the Reds, Salah has scored 204 goals. Despite new arrivals, the Egyptian’s place in the Liverpool line-up has remained intact. The club had rejected a £150 million bid from Al-Ittihad last summer. The player has scored 18 goals and provided nine assists for the club since then.
Following Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s announcement of his departure at the end of the season, speculation has arisen regarding potential player exits, including Salah. Al-Ittihad may offer up to £200 million for the Egyptian star. It would thus be interesting to see whether Liverpool looks to cash in the player, or extend his contract, while he turns 32 this year. Other than Salah, the Reds are also faced with a dilemma to extend the contracts of defender Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Djik.

Once Mohamed Salah joins the Saudi outfit, he would join forces with Karim Benzema, ex-Liverpool teammate Fabinho, N’Golo Kante and Luiz Felipe to form a formidable line-up for the Nadi Al-Sha’ab. The Egyptian star would be joining a long list of players who have joined the emerging Saudi PL since this season, like Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr., Roberto Firmino, Marcelo Brozovic and others.
There are also growing rumors that Salah could be pursued more intensely by Al-Ittihad, if forward Karim Benzema forces his way out of the SPL. Liverpool could potentially replace the 31-year-old with a younger forward such as Federico Chiesa, Leroy Sane, or Raphinha.
Players who could replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool, in case he moves to Al-Ittihad
Mohamed Salah has been Liverpool’s most consistent performer over the last few seasons, but the player has been linked with a move out of the club to Saudi Pl side, Al-Ittihad. There are only a handful of players who could replace the Egyptian at the Reds. This transfer will see some drastic changes in the betting scene as fans who bet in football, trust him to deliver every match.
One of the biggest names that emerges on the list is Italian forward Federico Chiesa, who is being linked with a move away from Juventus next summer. Another contender is Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane, with only 18 months remaining on his contract, presenting a viable option.
West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen has also been linked to Liverpool on multiple occasions, and has often been referred to as the “claret and blue Salah.” Barcelona forward Raphinha could also be a potential option, drawing from his experience in the Premier League with Leeds.
Other than them, Liverpool could also target two emerging stars in Real Sociedad winger Takufusa Kubo and PSV winger Johan Bakayoko, in order to replace Salah. The 22-year old Japanese star has been in great form, and is also being targeted by rival Manchester United. Belgian winger Bakayoko might also be a great addition, owing to his terrific form scoring six goals and providing 13 assists this season.
