Manchester United youngster, Alejandro Garnacho grabbed headlines for bringing out the ‘Calma’ celebrations, once popularized by Cristiano Ronaldo, after scoring Manchester United’s opening goal against Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League encounter between the two sides.
Garnacho, who has been in very decent form this season, continued his string of impressive performances after he fired home an incredible overhead kick in United’s match against Everton, last Sunday. Garnacho once again struck first blood, after he scored an impressive goal to open United’s account in their clash against Galatasaray. Following the goal, he emulated Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘Calma Calma’ celebration, paying tribute to the Portuguese star.
Garnacho had in the past also emulated the ‘Siu’ celebration, which too was popularized by Cristiano Ronaldo. Garnacho is known to admire Cristiano and seeks to fill the shoes left by the legendary star at Manchester United. Garnacho’s first UCL goal came off a brilliant assist from club captain, Bruno Fernandes, and some good footwork by Scott McTominay. The Argentine’s ‘Calma’ celebration may be received by critics in a similar manner that they received the ‘Siu’ celebration.
Manchester United’s match against Galatasaray was an all-important one for the team, as a defeat would have certainly knocked them out of the Champions League this season. They ended up with a 3-3 draw. Group leaders Bayern Munich are already through to the last 16 in Group A, and United may face some tough competition for the second place from Galatasaray and Copenhagen.
Hakim Ziyech scores incredible freekick to keep Galatasary in the match against Manchester United
Former Chelsea winger, Hakim Ziyech scored twice to keep Galatasaray running in their Champions League match against Manchester United. Ziyech scored an incredible free kick to bring the Turkish champions back into the game after United took an early lead through Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes.
Hakim Ziyech, the former Ajax man, then went on to score another goal from a set-piece, after United goalkeeper Andre Onana made a horrific mistake. Ten Hag’s men were up and running in the very first half of the game before Ziyech scored an incredible free kick to turn the score 2-1. Scott McTominay struck another goal in the second half to take United 3-1 ahead of their opponents, before Ziyech converted another free kick into a goal, following an error made by Andre Onana.
Ziyech will surely hope to claim the Man of the Match award after assisting Kerem Akturkoglu in scoring the 6th goal of the match, as the match ended in a draw, with the scores standing at 3-3.
