Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has been making the news for his antics during press conferences throughout the season. He recently had a fiery reaction when asked about Spurs defender Eric Dier’s future, as he might be leaving London. By the end of the conversation the Aussie manager was left irritated.
Following his side’s 1-0 victory over Vincent Kompany’s Burnley, Ange Postecoglou was asked if Eric Dier was absent due to his recurring injuries and future. Spurs manager replied with calm that he got injured and had a sore leg But, when the journalist tried to question if it was due to him [Dier] being linked to Bayern, Postecoglou was left fuming.
Separate issue mate, but DON'T question my integrity, when I say he's injured, he's INJURED!
Tottenham Hotspur progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup following a goal from Pedro Porro. Despite the victory, the press conference’s highlight was Postecoglou’s sarcastic remarks on the media’s questions.
Eric Dier has massively been linked to Bayern Munich, as renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano reported, and has yet to feature much since the new manager’s arrival.
The visible agitation could be because no official statements have been released by either club, putting the manager in a pickle. He asserted that Dier’s injuries and presence on the team were to separate issues and insisted that the media not double-cross his intentions when answering such questions. By doing this, the manager maintained a professional stance, dismissing any rumors that could arise due to his feelings.
Ange Postecoglou drops his opinion on Andre Onana’s AFCON selection
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou offered his views on the potential face-off with Manchester United’s Andre Onana following a last-minute agreement that allows the goalkeeper to participate in the upcoming match. Manchester United secured Onana’s availability until January 14 after negotiations with the Cameroonian FA.

Postecoglou remains unperturbed, asserting that each club has the right to handle such situations independently. FIFA regulations necessitate player releases for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) from January 1, allowing clubs some negotiation leeway, and Tottenham has already released other players for international duty. Ahead of Tottenham’s FA Cup third-round encounter with Burnley, Postecoglou addressed the club’s trophy aspirations, emphasizing that winning a single trophy doesn’t absolve long-term expectations.
The manager stressed the need for consistent competitiveness and the demand for success at a prestigious club like Tottenham. Postecoglou expressed his determination to bring success to the football club. He highlighted the importance of building a team that competes for trophies annually. He acknowledged the inevitability of criticism while working towards constructing a successful and competitive team for the long term.
