Anthony Elanga spent seven years in the Manchester United academy. Joining in 2014, he played for the United youth teams but finally broke into the First team in 2021. He played 55 matches for United, but most of his appearances came off the bench. He then decided to move away and joined Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2023.

Meanwhile, Manchester City had signed Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig for the price of £77 Million. That made him the 2nd most expensive defender in the Premier League and the most expensive Croatian player of all time.

While the defender took some time to settle in the Premier League, while learning his new role under Pep Guardiola, Gvardiol proved himself worth the price tag. While he is doing well for City, Elanga believes the Croatian is a “dead player”.

Doing a game on TikTok, Elanga had to put 10 random players in a rank from 1-10. He had only filled up six spots, with the highest being Eric Cantona at third. Luis Figo came in at 5th and Paul Nedved at 6th. Active players like John Stones, Alvaro Morata and Dayot Upamecano came in at 7th, 8th and 9th.

Finally came Gvardiol as the selection. Without hesitation, he kept the Croatian at dead last and muttered “ dead player” before moving on to the next player.

Fans left shocked as Anthony Elanga places Josko Gvardiol dead last

When the video of Anthony Elanga went viral, many fans were surprised at how he conveniently placed Josko Gvardiol at the bottom. Some commended him, adding that he had “ball knowledge. At the same time, a City fan reacted with a video of the defender and Elanga in a physical duel during a PL match, which the Croatian won with ease. One fan believed the Swede has said “10th player” and not dead player.

Josko Gvardiol has played 16 matches in the Premier League so far, winning 11 of them. He has conceded 16 goals, but his overall defensive work has been helpful for the defending champions.

Meanwhile, Elanga is settling well as a starter at Nottingham Forest. He has had 10 goal contributions in the 21 matches in the league. His next match will be against Arsenal in the City Ground. Forest have a good record at home against the Gunners, beating them at home in their last three encounters.
