December 18, 2022, is a date many football fans won’t forget as Lionel Messi lifted the World Cup for the first time. He led the first Argentinian side to World Cup glory after 36 years and it was celebrated by fans all around the world.
Played in the Lusail Stadium in Doha, Qatar, Argentina played a nerve-wracking match against France until they managed to beat them in the finals on penalties. As the world remembered an all-time final, Lionel Messi’s wife posted photos from the eventful night.
Antonela Roccuzzo posted 4 photos from the night of the World Cup final. The first was Messi’s now iconic image of him kissing the World Cup Trophy while holding the Golden Ball award. The 2nd was her posing with the World Cup trophy. She added photos of Messi’s boots from the night and the Argentinian with their three children.
She captioned the post with, “One year ago, Happy 18/12 Argentinians.” The post has gotten over 2 million likes in just four hours and over fifteen thousand likes. On Twitter many fans are remembering the iconic tournament, calling it one of the greatest World Cups they had ever seen.

Antonela Roccuzzo has seen her husband at his highs and lows. It was visible that Messi was heartbroken after their World Cup final loss in 2014 and the quarter-final exit in 2018. To add to those, there were also the Copa America final losses in 2015 and 2016.
So when Messi finally became the World Champion, his wife was emotional and wrote a heart-touching note on Instagram for her Husband. In which she wrote down how she knew about the struggles he had gone through and how proud she was of him.

After the World Cup, Argentina and Italy, the European Champions, played a one-off match called the Cup of Champions. Argentina won the match with ease, with Messi scoring a goal. As of now, many are unsure of his future. His Argentinian teammate, Nicolas Tagliafico, said Messi will play only if they win the Copa America in 2024.
