10-2 on aggregate over two legs isn’t the ideal scoreline for any team on the receiving end. Arsenal fans were given an unpleasant walk down memory lane as the UEFA Champions League draw saw the Gunners be drawn against Bayern Munich. The UCL quarter-final draw features a number of exciting match-ups, with Arsenal vs Bayern being one of the most exciting ones.
No Arsenal fan would have forgotten their team’s unfortunate experience against the German giants six seasons ago as Thomas Muller and co. obliterated the London club. Using the word obliterated would be an understatement as Arsenal picked the ball out of their net on ten separate occasions over two legs. Reacting to the draw, Muller posted a video, where he seemingly reminisced about the tie.
The midfield maestro sent out a warning to his international teammate Kai Havertz and listed out his expectations for the tie. While he acknowledged that Arsenal were a good side, he reassured his fans that he was confident ahead of the tie. He referred to either side as “very good teams” and that both teams had “very good stadiums“.
With Arsenal leading the race for the Premier League this year, fans are expecting a better display against Bayern compared to 2016/17.
Kai Havertz issues bold response to Thomas Muller’s seven-word challenge
Arsenal this season are a far better side than they have been in recent years. With their jump to first position in the Premier League, fans are more confident than ever that the club will lift silverware this year. After making a return to the Champions League after six long seasons, the North Londoners have had their work cut out for them by Bayern Munich.
In response to Thomas Muller’s viral video following the draw, Kai Havertz responded with a message that sounded just as confident. Hours after Muller posted his reaction, Havertz responded with “Will be a good game for sure.” The Arsenal forward joined the club in a deal which saw the Gunners pay £65 million to Chelsea.
The No.29 has managed to accumulate 9 goals and 3 assists in all competitions for his side, and with Bayern looming in the distance, supporters are hoping for more of the same. Bayern on the other hand, find themselves in disarray. Their chances of going trophyless increase day by day, and with Bayer Leverkusen pulling away in the Bundesliga, the Bavarians will be out to prove a point against Arsenal.
