Arsenal submitted an improved offer of 105m to West Ham United for Declan Rice on Wednesday. This comes after West Ham rejected Man City’s bid of 90m for the English midfielder.
Arsenal had initially submitted a bid worth around 80m for the player which was rejected. Thus, they have now increased their offer. However, there’s no guarantee that this offer will be accepted either.
West Ham are still unhappy with the payment structure presented by Arsenal and talks are still ongoing. The involvement of Champions Manchester City also complicates things. Mikel Arteta’s team might have to increase their offer to 110m to have a better chance for it to get accepted.
Pep Guardiola wants the player to replace Ilkay Gundogan who recently left for FC Barcelona. It was rumored that City had also lodged a higher bid verbally. The amount has not been revealed. However, Declan Rice’s preference is to remain in London and play for Arsenal.
A look at Arsenal’s summer transfer window plans other than Declan Rice
Arsenal are planning a major transfer window this season. After falling short in the title race last season, they don’t want to leave any wheels unturned. Mikel Arteta desperately wants to increase his depth and win the league this team beating his former employers Man City.
Thus, they want Declan Rice on the team as he is an amazing addition to the team. He has also signed Kai Havertz from Chelsea for 65m. The German player has a lot of potential and can operate in multiple positions including central midfielder and striker.
They are also targeting Ajax’s Jurrien Timber. The player was very close to joining Manchester United last summer. But now it seems that he’s all set to join Arteta’s side. He is also a very versatile addition to the squad as he can occupy both center-back and right-back positions for the team. His signing would strengthen the team massively in their depth.
