“Bad luck”- Mauricio Pochettino believes Lionel Messi hasn’t been fortunate enough in his first season at PSG
In a recent interview, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino revealed that it was Lionel Messi’s “bad luck” that kept him away from scoring goals for PSG this season. He feels Lionel Messi is lacking fortune at PSG after playing for 20 years in Barcelona before switching to a PSG shirt in 2021.
Lionel Messi has hit the woodwork ten times in a single season as he last did it against Troyes. Had it been Messi’s best form, he would have scored at the last moment to pull out a win in the match which ended in a draw.
“I think it was due to bad luck. It’s unbelievable because we could have won the game on that last play, where he hits the bar. He’s a top-quality player, and I think he’s just suffering from bad luck this season. Unfortunately, with all those posts, he didn’t have the opportunity to score more goals”, said Pochettino on Messi’s luck hitting the post on several occasions,” Pochettino.
Lionel Messi left Barcelona last summer as it had been difficult for the club to keep him back due to legalities in the league. A Player like Messi is known for his goals scoring abilities and performing in big matches under pressure to pull out victories for his team.
However, he failed to contribute in his first season in Paris after scoring only four goals in 24 matches and has made 13 assists to his teammates which is the only takeaway for the ex-Barcelona star.

Lionel Messi this season has been far away from his older version playing for Barcelona after netting just four times in 34 games this season and with 13 assists.
The Argentine was a prolific goalscorer and a game-maker with his left-footed assists and long-range strikes with precision and accuracy during his reign in Barcelona. During a long career at Barcelona, he had been their talisman with more than 30 goals per season on an average.
