Trent Alexander-Arnold

Barcelona remains active in the summer transfer window as Xavi attempts to return the club to the top of both the domestic and European contention. According to Futbol Total, Liverpool’s right-back Alexander-Arnold will be the Catalan giants’ main target next summer.

Last summer, the England international signed a new contract with Liverpool that will keep him at the club until 2025, indicating that he will not be cheap.

According to the report, Barcelona will be willing to pay €80 million for his services because he is seen as someone who would ‘complete the squad.’ It goes on to say that the Catalan club would pay for Alexander-Arnold with the proceeds from the sale of Antoine Griezmann and other players next summer.

There is no doubt that Barcelona is showing a lot of ambition in the transfer window this summer, as they continue to make signings and target high-profile players. However, the project under Xavi is still in its early stages and will require time before it can compete with the current Liverpool team.

Barcelona are unlikely to be the only club interested in Alexander-Arnold, but with Liverpool still at the top of the table, a move appears unlikely, especially at the quoted fee.
