“Is this necessary?!” – Barcelona’s ‘official’ offer for Kylian Mbappe goes viral, fans ask for MERCY from the trolls

Kylian Mbappe is one of the highest-paid players in the world, with the Athletic reporting that he earns €72 Million a year. Knowing that the 25-year-old needed a high wage, many clubs decided to not go after the French superstar, despite him being on their shortlist.
Clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City were touted as potential destinations, but have decided not to follow through. Many thought Barcelona would go after the superstar, but their financial constraints, with them being in humongous debt.
According to many reports, they owed over €1.5 Billion in debt as of 2022-23. They have had to sell many parts of their business to bring in money to purchase players, like selling their TV rights or selling their merchandising license. With the Camp Nou undergoing renovation, they are selling memorabilia from the old stadium, like grass.
With extra charges of corruption and their poor form, fans have doubled down on mocking them. Knowing their financial constraints, a fan made an “official” contract offer to Kylian Mbappe in which they mocked the Catalan club.
The contract offer is for five years, in which Mbappe will receive a 30-day Spotify Premium Subscription for free. Along with that, he will be getting 3% of all sales the club gets by selling the Camp Nou grass. For the signing bonus, they jokingly said that Mbappe would also get breakfast once, as they don’t feed their players breakfast.

The meme was posted by a popular page, Troll Football on X (Formerly Twitter). Within five hours of posting it, it received 36k likes and 2 million views. It was also posted on Instagram, where it got 43k likes. Many mocked Barcelona’s inability to pay due to them having a huge debt, but some Barcelona fans were not happy with the meme.

Meanwhile, Marca has reported that Kylian Mbappe has signed a five-year contract with arch-rivals Real Madrid and will be joining them in July 2024. He will be paid around €15-20 million a year, making him the highest-paid player in the club. This is a huge drop from his €72 million salary at PSG.
Barcelona are in a crisis of their own. Manager Xavi has announced his departure just 6 months after winning the league, while they are also close to bankruptcy. They also still owe over €200 million in transfer fees.
