The accusations were made against Barcelona’s ex-presidents, Sandro Rosell, and Josep Maria Bartomeu. The two allegedly paid the refereeing committee chief Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira over 2.9 million euros between 2014 and 2018 which led to the accusations of sports corruption and unfair administration being made. Now, their future will be decided by an investigating judge who will decide whether to press charges against the club or not.

FC Barcelona beat Valencia 1-0 to extend their lead to nine points at the top of the table. A solitary Raphinha goal was enough to seal the deal for the Blaugrana.

Raphinha scored the only goal of the match in the 15th minute as he headed home Sergio Busquets delivery into the box. In the second half, Barcelona was awarded a penalty through a handball. However, Ferran Torres hit the post on his penalty as he could not convert. To make things even more complicated, Ronald Araujo was sent off shortly after for a tackle on a Valencia forward when he was through on goal. But they held on to earn the hard-fought victory.

FC Barcelona will next play against Athletic Club on Saturday. They are currently six points ahead of second-placed Real Madrid with one match in hand. The two giants will square up against each other next Sunday.
