Barcelona are awaiting Fenerbahce’s and Turkey’s rising star Arda Guler’s final nod. One of the key priorities for new sporting director Deco, who has been working hard to secure the deal, has been the 18-year-old offensive midfielder. He even traveled to Turkey to meet with Fenerbahce and the player’s support staff.

Deco’s efforts have paid off, as it is believed that Barcelona are in the lead to sign Guler, beating out teams like Real Madrid and AC Milan. Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, and Mateu Alemany, the director, went to the La Liga office to tell the league of the changes and to inquire about the player’s potential registration.

Guler has not yet given Barcelona his definitive affirmation despite the fact that things are moving in the right manner. The 18-year-old was scheduled to speak with Fenerbahce manager Ismail Kartal and discuss his future plans with his family. However, all indications are that the young prodigy, who has a €17.5 million release clause, will join Barça.
