Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) will now pay Spanish Club FC Barcelona €20,458 every day until their young Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo receives the medical green-light to play. This compensation is part of FIFA’s regulation program to protect players who get injured during international breaks between the season.

As per latest reports posted in Barcelona’s official site, ” Ronald Araujo will undergo surgery on Wednesday for the adductor longus tendon avulsion he has in his right thigh. The operation will be carried out by Dr. Lasse Lempainen, under the supervision of the club’s medical staff, in Turku, Finland “.

Araujo found discomfort and was subbed off in the fifth minute of their friendly match against Iran on 23 September, Friday. Uruguay went on to lose the game 1-0 with Mehdi Taremi scoring the winner in the 79th minute. As the Qatar world cup is approaching, it seems Araujo will miss the whole competition.
