FC Barcelona and Netherlands star midfielder Frenkie de Jong announced that he is soon going to become a father through a social media post on Monday. The Dutch midfielder has been in a relationship with Mikkey Kiemeney since their childhood. The former Ajax man proposed to Kiemeney earlier in July 2022 and they are currently engaged.
De Jong posted a very heartfelt video on Instagram to announce the news to the world. The couple, in the video, can be seen on a beach, playing with the waves and spending quality time together. The recently crowned La Liga champion then slowly revealed the pregnant belly of his partner. Kiemeney, who looks to be in her first trimester, looked joyous and had fun with de Jong. The post was coupled with Ed Sheeran’s song “Small Bump”.
Their announcement was followed by a lot of congratulations from many of de Jong’s teammates and colleagues. Cody Gakpo, Virgil Van Dijk, Daley Blind, Davy Klaassen are a few of the names that congratulated them for the good news and wished them luck for a happy future.
Frenkie and Mikkey are reportedly dating for several years now. They got engaged back in 2022. It was a year ago when Frenkie had proposed to Mikkey during their holiday in the United States. He posted on Instagram with a heartfelt message that said, “I can’t wait to share the rest of my life with you.”

Manchester City is interested to sign Frenkie de Jong this summer after missing out on Declan Rice
Manchester City is reportedly interested in signing Frenkie de Jong from FC Barcelona and is ready to offer a hefty premium for the player. Although they have already signed Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea, it seems Pep Guardiola would need another midfielder for his system.
The Etihad residents reportedly were gunning for Declan Rice before the player chose to join Arsenal. It seems that the Cityzens have moved on and have turned their attention toward the Dutch midfielder.
According to reports, City values de Jong at £90 million but Barcelona would want to bargain for a better offer considering his age and promise. The 26-year-old midfielder was close to leaving Barcelona the last summer with Manchester United being the topmost suitor. De Jong was a part of the 2018/19 Ajax tea, that reached the semifinals of the Champions League and impressed everyone. Eric Ten Hag, who was the Ajax manager at that time, is at the helm of United now and wanted to bring his disciple to Old Trafford.
However, the transfer fell through due to De Jong’s unwillingness to leave the Catalan giants. He has been a key cog in Xavi’s possession-based system in Barcelona. Barcelona have finally brought La Liga back to Catalunya after a four-year absence.
