Barcelona’s latest young superstar, Lamine Yamal, has made headlines once again after his spectacular senior team debut for Spain. The 16-year-old has recently been the talk of the town after making his debut for the Barcelona first team. He broke Ansu Fati‘s record as the youngest assist provider for FCB in the 21st century.

He is also the youngest player to debut for the Catalan giants. Lamine Yamal has proven to be deadly on the right wing for Xavi, cutting in with his deadly left foot. On Friday, the Spaniard made history again as the 16-year-old became the youngest ever goalscorer for the senior Spain national team, aged just 16 years and 57 days.

The Barcelona winger broke the record earlier held by club teammate Gavi, who was then aged 17 years and 62 days, when the youngster made his first appearance in 2021 against Italy in the Nation’s League. The youngster has had a brilliant start to life this season, hitting the ground running with the first team at Barca and now for the Spanish national team as well.

Yamal made his debut, coming off the bench for Dani Olmo in the 44th minute of the game. The speedy winger took just 15 minutes to find the net when he blasted home a loose ball near the edge of the box. The goal made Lamine Yamal the youngest ever goalscorer, both for Spain and in Euro Cup Qualifiers. He surpasses the record previously held by former Real Madrid and Wales player Gareth Bale.

Yamal said after that match that he was ecstatic after making his debut and scoring on his debut. He also took a moment to thank his teammates and coach for the wonderful achievement. After winning Man of the Match against Villarreal and cementing his place in the first team, Yamal will be in pole position to become a starter with the first team. Xavi has a gem in Yamal and will seek to implement him into the first team throughout the season.

Spain demolish Georgia in UEFA Euro Qualifiers

Georgia hosted Spain on Friday in Group A. The away side was too good for Georgia, as La Roja demolished Georgia 1-7. Luis de la Fuente‘s side were rampant as Alvaro Morata opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. A low cross from Fabian Ruiz deflected off of Georgian defender Kvirkvelia into their own net to make it 2-0.

Dani Olmo slotted home from a distance before Alvaro Morata doubled his tally. In the second half, Morata finished off his hat-trick before Inaki Williams dribbled past their defense to power through the keeper. Finally, Lamine Yamal found himself at the end of a loose ball, which he then blasted through the crowd of players to make it 1-7.

The home side got a consolation goal through Giorgi Chakvetadze early in the second half after a low, driven shot crawled through the grasp of Unai Simon. Spain has six points from three games and is currently second in group A.
