Barcelona’s sporting director Mateu Alemany blames this factor for their Champions League exit
Mateu Alemany
After the devastating loss in the Champions League fixtures for Barcelona, the club has sunk its chances of being in the league and might slip into the Europa League competition once again. After losing to Bayern Munich and Drawing their game with Inter Milan, they had hoped with Viktoria Plzen to revive them, but that didn’t happen as well.
The Blaugrana sporting director, Mateu Alemany has his reasons for the unfortunate event, and said “We did not deserve to lose in Munich”. “The refereeing in Milan was absolutely incomprehensible” making direct blame on the bad refereeing that might have been the case.
The blame for one club’s doom shall not be put onto others, but the referee conditions and the VAR results have sort of created an upset amongst many team players and the management as well, the technology playing a crucial role, and the referees failing to build on the faulty conclusions.
Bayern Munich in UEFA Champions League: Barcelona’s nightmare
Blaugrana’s history is great in itself being one of the most successful clubs not only in Spain but in the whole of Europe, but the Catalans have failed to maintain their legacy in the Champions League, especially against the German club. Featuring a series of defeats from the club.
Considering they have collided with each other 12 times in UCL, but Barca only won 2 times and the rest 9 times lost to Bayern, equaled only in one match. Its heaviest defeats were 8-2 in the 2019-20 Quarterfinals and 4-0 in the 2012-13 Semifinals. Pulling Barcelona down out of the eliminators.
Time and again, the Spanish club has been beaten brutally by Bayern Munich, the Bavarians have done it yet again and there are just hopes for the Catalans this season. Lewandowski’s performance vs his former club wasn’t top-notch to watch.
