Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool at the end of the season is no secret. The German manager has called time on his era at Anfield, as he pointed to fatigue and being unable to keep up with the intensity as reasons. While the Reds prepare to compete for a treble in his farewell season, Liverpool are equipped with the mammoth task of finding his replacement.
German giants Bayern Munich are in a similar fix, with boss Thomas Tuchel also announcing his decision to part ways with the defending champions. From Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso to Hansi Flick and Jose Mourinho, a number of names have been thrown in the air following the announcement. The latest to add to the mix was Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, though that rumor was readily dismissed by the Bayern sporting director, Max Eberl.
I will not call Jurgen Klopp for our job. I understand what it means when Klopp said : I'm running out of energy. Few people can judge that better than I can. I've gone through it and that's why I'm not going to call him.Max Eberl via BILD
Eberl’s comments aside, Klopp may be forced to think twice even if he is offered the job by the Bayern management for reasons otherwise. His history with Borussia Dortmund may prohibit him from taking the job at Bayern.
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl reveals secret target for managerial position
Max Eberl has offered fans a sneak peek into the club’s pursuit of a new manager. The sporting director confidently dismissed rumors of Jurgen Klopp assuming charge after Thomas Tuchel, while also stating that the media doesn’t have knowledge of certain names on their list. Xabi Alonso remains the biggest name on Bayern’s wish-list, even though he is currently engaged in leading his side to the Bundesliga title.
The former Bayern Munich and Liverpool man spent four years at Bayern, winning multiple Bundesliga titles and domestic championships.
Maybe in the end, the best decision for the club will be to hire someone who hasn't been rumored in the media. Yes, there are names on the list that haven't been rumored in the media.Max Eberl via BILD
Bayern’s current state in the Bundesliga is anything but ideal. The Bavarians are ten points behind Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen, and are looking set to finish second best to the league leaders. However, they have managed to book a spot in the Champions League quarter-final, and take on Arsenal later in April. After failing to impress domestically, the only way to salvage the season for Thomas Tuchel rides on their performance in the UCL.
