Transfer News: Thomas Muller extends his contract with Bayern Munich till 2024

Bayern Munich has kept Thomas Muller till 2024 after he recently signed an extended contract with his childhood club. Muller joined the club as a 10-year-old youngster in 2000 and since then it’s been a great journey for the German forward.

He became a part of the Bavarians 22 years ago and has won record 11 league titles with the club after they recently won the 2021/22 league title. The German International’s contract ends this summer but the club decided to keep him and managed to secure him for the upcoming few seasons. 

Bayern announced his contract renewal in a special way by recreating his childhood photo where he wore the Bayern jersey in the year 2020. He received a vintage Bayern jersey with 2024 printed on the jersey as his contract is extended for two years. The 32-year-old striker has scored 12 goals and made 24 assists in all competitions this season.

“I am very happy to have extended my contract with FC Bayern until 2024,” said Müller after his contract extension. “Our common path since I moved to the FCB youth team in 2000 has been a fantastic success story so far. I really enjoy wearing the red colors on and off the pitch every year.” 

Bayern Munich wins their tenth straight Bundesliga title after edging past Dortmund

The Bavarians won their tenth league title in ten successive seasons after defeating Dortmund 3-1 to go 12 points ahead of their rival. Gnabry, Lewandowksi, and Musiala scored on the night to assure them the league title for the tenth consecutive season with three games in hand. It is now the highest number of consecutive league title wins by any European team with Juventus winning 9 straight titles in Seria A. 

Several players including Robert Lewandowski, Manuel Neuer, and Gnabry are due to their contract expiry at the end of 2023. Lewandowski has shown interest in leaving the club after his contract expires this summer and big European clubs like Barcelona have targeted him after his performances in the last five seasons.
