Belgium star Eden Hazard announces his retirement from international football after the 2022 FIFA World Cup upset

Former Chelsea star and Belgium captain Eden Hazard has decided to end his international career. His disappointing 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign played a big part in the decision. Belgium only scored one goal in the world cup group stage and was eliminated by opponents like Morocco and Croatia, who outclassed the golden generation.
The Belgian talisman via his Instagram has announced that he’s ending this chapter of his life with a thank you note to all his fans and supporters, and as a token of appreciation, he wrote, “A page turns today… Thank you for your love. Thank you for your unparalleled support. Thank you for all this happiness shared since 2008. I have decided to put an end to my international career. The succession is ready. I will miss you.”
The man is currently playing for the Spanish giants Real Madrid and isn’t getting a satisfactory amount of playing minutes on the field. Eden Hazard wore the captain’s armband 56 times for his country. The player’s departure was a surprie as a player of his caliber is not seen getting retired so early. One of the best players in Belgium‘s history said thanks and is ready to move on with his remaining days of adventure at the club level.
After Belgium’s shocking loss to Morocco in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the Belgian people went insane on the streets, and getting on with violence was what was left as an option. However, after a disheartening performance in this World Cup, the 31-year-old has decided to hang up his boots.

The player’s club career has also seen some unmatched achievements; the Belgian moved to Chelsea in 2012 Premier League, where he made 245 appearances for the Blues while scoring 85 goals.
He won two Premier League titles, two Europa Leagues, one FA Cup, and one EFL Cup with Chelsea. He then cashed in his move to Real Madrid in 2019, where he lifted La Liga twice and won two Spanish Super Cups and the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League though his involvement in those victories is questionable.
