Bernardo Silva remains a top target for Barcelona this summer after they failed to sign the Portuguese last term due to their financial constraints. This time around, the Blaugrana are better placed but can only sign the midfielders if Frenkie de Jong leaves to sign for Manchester United.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Bernardo Silva remains open to playing for Barcelona and Pep Guardiola has also confirmed that will let the player go. However, Barcelona will have to raise funds from player sales to ensure they can afford the 27-year-old.

Barcelona vs Manchester City charity match Scheduled for 24th August

Talking about the charity match, Barcelona president Joan Laporta said, “We won Real Madrid 0-4, now we have the chance to win the English champions. Not sure it’s gonna be a friendly!”

Replying to Laporta’s comment, Pep Guardiola said while acknowledging the Spaniard’s interest in signing Bernardo Silva, “We’re gonna bring all the big guns, don’t worry. We’ll play with Bernardo Silva and 10 more”.

Bernardo Silva signed for Manchester city in the Summer of 2017 for €50 million euros. The Portuguese took no time to settle into the Premier League as became Pep Guardiola’s most trusted midfielder.

In 251 appearances since Bernardo Silva has managed 48 goals and 51 assists for the Citizens. While the stats may not look quite enormous, everyone knows that Silva is one of the most dazzling midfielders out there and could definitely help Barcelona recover what they lost in Lionel Messi on the pitch.
