The Serie A game, where Coritiba took on Palmeiras had a classic ‘football blooper’ moment. In a video that has then gone viral, Coritiba keeper Gabriel had a howler. The #1 pulled out one of the most embarrassing moments which was as unexpected as his actions. The home side eventually lost 2-0 to Palmeiras.
However, the ‘fail’ took place well before Coritiba went behind. In what seems to be an improvised goal-kick routine, both center-backs are seen pulling away as Gabriel runs up to take the kick. However, in an effort to trick the Palmeiras attackers, the pair trackback, creating space in the middle. However, instead of finding a player in the middle, as was the plan, Gabriel made a hilarious error.
The Coritiba keeper’s goal kick went out of bounds, evading any team player. The players looked as confused as the keeper, as the audience was left to guess what the club was trying to achieve.
The video has since then given way to a lot of laughs as it has gone viral on social media. Gabriel did not make any other errors in the game but was at the receiving end of 2 Palmeiras goals.
Another 7-1 in Brazil as fans reminded of 7-1 defeat to Germany in 2014
Yesterday, in the Brasileiro Série A, Internacional faced Santos in a match that brought back memories of Brazil’s 7-1 loss to Germany in 2014. Internacional won the game with a whopping 7-0 score, lifting them to 12th place, while Santos dropped to 18th, in a relegation position.
In 2014, Brazil hosted the World Cup and had high hopes as they reached the semi-finals. However, the dreams were shattered when Germany defeated them 7-1, causing a national heartbreak.
Social media has blown up after the game, with many taking it as an excuse to bring up the 7-1 score line in 2014. Enner Valencia put on a wonderful performance for the home side with his brace. After an own goal by Santos player Kevyson, Alan Patrick, Wanderson, Fabricio Bustos, and Luiz Adriano all got on the scoresheet. Subsequently, Santos’ only goal came in the 80th minute, after the damage was done.
