Manchester United‘s big summer signing from last season, Casemiro is regretting his move to United. According to the reports, the club’s intention is to purchase Benfica midfielder, Joao Neves.

Last summer, Casemiro joined Manchester United for £60 Million plus £10 Million in add-ons. He famously said ‘Tell them I’ll fix it’ after United’s 4-0 loss to Brentford. But now, a year later, Brazilian reports from El Nacional suggest he regrets leaving Madrid for England. He’s been criticized for not meeting expectations. Casemiro got 2 red cards and accumulated yellow cards, missing over 7 games last season, whereas he never got a red card in his 9 years at Real Madrid.

Additionally, Manchester United’s interest in Benfica’s 19-year-old midfielder, Joao Neves, has unsettled Casemiro, who turns 32 next year. Benfica might accept £60 Million for Joao Neves. Further, he’s highly praised by Luis Castro. He said:

With Erik ten Hag rebuilding Manchester United, Joao Neves’s signing could be part of the long-term plan. Casemiro’s contract with Manchester United expires in 2026.

Casemiro remains unavailable for Manchester United

Following Brazil’s draw against Venezuela in the World Cup qualifier, Casemiro came off with an ankle injury in the 79th minute of the game. However, the Brazilian would play the entire 90 minutes against Uruguay in their next game, reaggravating his pre-existing injury.

Erik ten Hag was asked about the Brazilian who missed out on the game against Sheffield United this past weekend. United boss said:

He was injured in the first game and he came off but he played the second game…. it’s a small injury and he’ll return next week and he will be healed and ready for our next game, I'm sure.

Casemiro will also miss out on Manchester United’s game against F.C Copenhagen due to the red card he received against Galatasaray.

According to Ten Hag, Casemiro will be available for selection when Manchester City visit Old Trafford this coming weekend, both teams coming off a win in their previous Premier League fixture.
