Premier League side Brentford took a humorous dig at Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez for his theatrics in Villa’s thrilling encounter against the Bees at the Community Stadium on Sunday. The Bees mocked Martinez with a witty post on their official TikTok account.
In the closing moments of the game, Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and Brentford forward Neal Maupay got into a confrontation. Meanwhile, French midfielder Boubacar Kamara received a red card for pushing Yarmolyuk in the face, escalating tensions. Later in injury time, Kamara collided with the Villa goalkeeper, sparking a clash with Maupay. Martinez then dramatically fell to the ground, feigning injury, which drew significant criticism.
Later on, Martinez retaliated by pushing Maupay to the ground as he moved towards the penalty box for a free kick. The goalkeeper received a yellow card from the referee for grabbing Maupay’s shirt. Following the match, Brentford shared a video on their official TikTok account jokingly wishing Martinez to have a speedy recovery. The contentious encounter between the two teams saw nine yellow cards and two red cards being issued.
Moreover, the World Cup-winning goalkeeper has frequently been under a lot of fire for his antics both on and off the pitch, and for making provocative, especially the celebration he pursued while mocking Kylian Mbappe during the 2022 World Cup. Despite this, Aston Villa won the match 2-1, allowing them to maintain their position in 3rd place on the Premier League table.
Aston Villa’s win 2-1 against Brentford keeps them firmly in the hunt for the Premier League title
The match between the two Premier League heavyweights ended in a narrow 2-1 victory for Villa, enabling them to retain the 3rd spot in the Premier League standings. Aston Villa are now only a point behind table toppers Arsenal, with the Gunners leading at the top with 39 points and Villa having 38 points.

Controversy marred the game as Ben Mee and Boubacar Kamara of the Bees got red cards. Brentford took the lead with a goal from Keane Lewis Potter in the 45th minute, but Alex Moreno equalized in the 77th minute. Ollie Watkins scored the winning goal for Villa in the final moments, assisted by Kamara. This victory extended Villa’s winning streak to nine games under manager Unai Emery.
