Premier League giants, Arsenal face a stumbling block in their pursuit of Brentford forward, Ivan Toney in the winter transfer window, with the Bees setting a substantial £100 million price tag on the player. Mikel Arteta seeks to sign the striker to bolster his goal-scoring options, but the deal faces complexity due to the high valuation.
The 27-year-old forward is a prime target for Arsenal, aiming to enhance their attacking lineup due to Gabriel Jesus’ mediocre performance as the club’s number nine. The English player faces an eight-month football ban for various gambling offenses, expected to conclude by January 17, 2023, following which the player is set to resume playing. Before the ban, he netted 21 goals in 35 games for the Bees last season.
Arsenal wants Ivan Toney, but it’s hard because of money rules and now Brentford’s price tag of £100 million. This big price might make Arsenal look at cheaper choices, like Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth. To pay for Toney, Arsenal might have to sell players, and Crystal Palace is keen on Eddie Nketiah.
Chelsea and Tottenham have also shown interest in acquiring Toney from Brentford. Bees manager Thomas Frank seems hesitant to let go of the Englishman, especially considering the team’s struggles in the Premier League this season without the striker, currently positioned 14th in the EPL table.
Arsenal prepare and plan for the upcoming January winter transfer window
After a recent loss to West Ham United, Arsenal is now in 2nd place in the Premier League. This has led to concerns about the team’s strength. Despite a good start to the season, Arsenal plans to bring in new players in the January transfer window.
Japanese full-back Takehiro Tomiyasu could be put up for sale, despite playing an important role under Mikel Arteta in the first half of the season. His versatility at left and right back has attracted interest from Italian clubs like Napoli and Juventus. Thomas Partey is another player who could be offloaded this season, after a season marred by injuries.
In terms of arrivals, Arsenal might look to sign a striker, with Brentford’s Ivan Toney, Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke, and Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy emerging as potential targets. Additionally, Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic, a long-term target for Arteta, is under consideration.
