Brighton and Hove Albion youngster Facundo Buonanotte opened up about his struggles in his initial days. The teenager, now 18, signed in January and found it difficult in the earlier days due to the extremely harsh British winter. His plight was so severe that he also contemplated self-harm.

While talking to ESPN, the 18-year-old said: “[When I joined Brighton] it was windy and cold. It was getting dark at 3 in the afternoon and I was thinking ‘where have I gone’. I wanted to kill myself, but I didn’t say anything.”

Buonanotte moved from Rosario Central to Brighton in January for a reported £6 million fee. After impressing in half a season, he is worth far more now than he was six months ago. He has scored once in his 13 outings last season. The promising attacking mideo also made his national team debut for Argentina earlier last month against Indonesia.

The midfielder looks set to have a bright career ahead of him. He shall be seen plying his trade next year in the Europa League with the Seagulls. Brighton had a remarkable campaign that saw them finish sixth and qualify for Europe under Roberto De Zerbi.

Samuel Umtiti, center-back for France, had his contract with Barcelona terminated, and the team has made the announcement that he is now a free agent. In 2016, Barcelona acquired the Olympique Lyonnais youth product for €25 million. Gerard Piqué helped Umtiti develop, and he was regarded as one of the most dependable defenders in Europe. His professional career suffered a sudden drop off as France won the 2018 World Cup.

Unfortunately, persistent left knee problems kept him from moving up a level, and he was sidelined for numerous weeks in Barcelona. Last season, the center-back was on loan to Lecce in Serie A. Umtiti had a healthy season and occasionally resembled the commanding player of old.

In the end, negotiations between Umtiti and Barcelona resulted in the center-back’s agreement to part ways with the La Liga winners after the 2026 season. Now a free agent, the 29-year-old. Nobody knows where he’ll go next, with his next club undecided.
