Premier League giant Liverpool has gotten on the wrong end of a legal battle. The British Asian man, namely Asad Farooq, 25, has alleged that the club was racially discriminative against his job application at the club since he wasn’t called up for an interview even after having professional qualifications and experience at the topmost level.

Farooq has a stadium and event management background and applied for an administrative position at Liverpool in November last year. He has experience working for Tottenham Hotspur and the Qatar World Cup.

Irrespective of his qualifications and accolades, he was denied an interview at the club, and he alleges it was due to racial profiling. Farooq has further argued that the candidate who was eventually selected had less experience than him and was given preference. He has also enlisted the support of Yunus Lanat, a lawyer and the first Muslim to serve on the Football Association (FA) Council.

A frustrated Farooq expressed the lack of opportunities despite having the right qualifications. He has questioned Liverpool’s diversity claims and the discrepancies in their hiring practices. The club now faces a legal battle against the individual as they have denied disclosing their diversity data, and an employment tribunal has been scheduled for March.

Liverpool look at the transfer market as Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas injured

Liverpool is actively seeking a solution to their left-back shortage, engaging in talks with Fulham over a potential deal for USMNT star Antonee Robinson. With injuries sidelining Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, Liverpool aims to secure Robinson in the January transfer window.

The talks are reportedly progressing well, and the American player has shown interest in joining the Premier League team. Jurgen Klopp faces a pressing need for a left-back, as Robertson has been unavailable since October due to a shoulder injury, and Tsimikas recently suffered a broken collarbone.

Despite turning to Joe Gomez as a temporary solution, Liverpool recognizes the urgency of securing another option in this crucial position, especially with upcoming matches, including the FA Cup clash against Arsenal on January 7. The Reds hope to finalize the deal with Robinson to address their defensive challenges promptly.
