“Bruno Fernandes defines the phrase shithouse”- How Liverpool fans fumed after seeing the Manchester United star not allowing Mohamed Salah to take ball after he scored
Bruno Fernandes and Mo Salah
Fernandes palmed Salah away as he attempted furiously to collect the ball, signaling that he would return it to the center circle. The Portuguese nearly received a second caution after receiving one for diving, but the referee moved Salah back instead. After the final whistle, Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, confronted Bruno and was seen having a lively talk.
Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United was assigned the duty of captaining the Red Devils in the absence of usual skipper Harry Maguire, and the Portuguese international did a fantastic job of leading his club to their first victory of the year. In the third game, Man United defeated Liverpool 2-1 to earn their first victory. Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho did a fantastic job of finding the back of the goal for Liverpool.
While Bruno Fernandes’ on-field antics annoyed the supporters, Erik ten Hag was overjoyed by the victory. After Mohamad Salah scored a goal in the 81st minute of play, the Red Devils’ captain came under fire for not giving the ball back to him. Salah scored with a header, but Fernandes was the first to touch the ball and the midfielder wouldn’t give it to Salah.
Fernandes, though, was not content to stop there. He also made an effort to prevent Salah from gaining possession of the ball on the ground. As soon as the Reds’ star regained composure, Fernandes pretended to be hurt, saying Salah had jabbed him in the eye. Everything was done to squander time. The spectators became outraged, but the referee did not find Fernande’ actions objectionable. When sharing the footage of the event, one of the users said, “Bruno Fernandes defines the phrase shithouse”.
Results from Manchester United’s game against Liverpool:
Marcus Rashford begins the Erik ten Hag era against the sluggish Reds. Manchester United overcame rival Liverpool 2-1 at Old Trafford to officially usher in a new era under Erik Ten Hag.
The Red Devils looked changed as they outfought and out-thought their arch-rivals to gain their first victory under the Dutchman after falling to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford in their first two games of the new season. Liverpool had previously won 5-0 at this venue on their way to narrowly missing winning the quadruple trophy last season, but they fell far short of those expectations this time around. Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford’s goals in either half gave the revitalised home team a lead they refused to let up even after Mohamed Salah’s late header set.
