“Campeones”: Twitter takes a storm as Real Madrid wins their record-breaking 35th La Liga title with four games to spare

Real Madrid

Real Madrid won their 35th league title under Carlo Ancelotti on Saturday evening after they came on top of Espanyol, beating them 4-0. Real Madrid extended their lead by 17 points over second-placed Sevilla, which clearly makes Los Blancos the champion of Spain. Real Madrid has 81 points in 34 matches with 4 matches in hand and is 18 points clear of the third-placed Barcelona.

Interestingly, with the La Liga title, Carlo Ancelotti becomes the first manager to win all five major league trophies including England, Spain, Italy, Germany, and France. Rodrygo scored two goals at the break on the night, Ascensio scored one, and Karim Benzema scored one to make it 4-0 against 13th-placed Espanyol.

Here are some of the Twitter reactions from the fans after Real Madrid’s league triumph:

Marcelo has won his 24th trophy with Real Madrid and is the most decorated player in this white jersey. He is the only player to win the most number of trophies during his tenure in the club’s 120-year history. Marcelo’s contract ends this summer and he will depart from Santiago Bernabeu after serving the Los Blancos for over 16 years with 544 appearances in all competitions.

Karim Benzema has been the key man for the Los Blancos after his 42 goals in 42 appearances this season which is the highest individual goal record for the Frenchman.

This is the first time in his career that he has touched the 40-goal mark in a single season. He is the highest goal-scorer in the league with 26 league goals which is 13 ahead of the second-placed goalscorer. He is the joint-highest assist maker that clearly shows his extravagant form this season. He is probably one of the top contenders for Ballon d’Or and other awards.
