Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, in a pre-match interview, committed an error in pronouncing the name of the French midfielder, Aurelien Tchouameni referring to him as “Tchouameninga”. The Italian was speaking about the Frenchman stepping in as a center-back to cover up for the absence of the injured David Alaba for Real Madrid’s upcoming fixtures.

Prominent sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano shared a snippet of Carlo Ancelotti’s pre-match interview, in which he hilariously referred to the midfielder by another name in a slip of the tongue, although quickly correcting his error. The manager was busy highlighting the importance of players shifting and adapting to unconventional positions apart from the ones they play in times of emergency. Netizens though, were quick to identify Ancelotti’s errors as he stirred laughter among football fans by unintentionally combining the names of Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga during the press conference.

After the match against Villareal, Real Madrid officially announced that Alaba suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament injury, revealing his imminent surgery. With Eder Militao already sidelined with an injury until February, and Antonio Rudiger and Nacho as the only concrete options at the heart of Los Blancos’ defense, the club might consider looking towards the reluctant Tchouameni as a makeshift central defender. The injury situation has prompted contemplation for the Italian manager.

Alaba is now part of a growing list of injured players at the club, joining Vinicius Jr., Courtois, Camavinga, Arda Guler, Militao, and Carvajal. Arda Guler, a recent signing, hasn’t played yet. Most of these players won’t play for the rest of the season, and some will return later. This has the club questioning their decision to not sign more players in the summer.
