After Real Madrid got destroyed by Manchester City in the semifinals of the Champions League on Tuesday, speculations were rife that Carlo Ancelotti will get sacked by the president, Florentino Perez, after such a disappointing loss. But the Italian, in a characteristic unphased demeanor, handled the question with unprecedented ease.
Ancelotti made it very clear that he is not getting sacked and referenced Florentino Perez’s statement, “Ancelotti to leave? I don’t even want to hear about it. He has another year on his contract and we are VERY HAPPY with him.”
Ancelotti, oozing confidence, said, “No one doubts me. I think the president was very clear 15 days ago — this is a step to improve for next year. Next season I will be here to fight to win another Champions League”. Despite his side playing uninspiring football, the manager will continue till the next year and will complete his contract at Santiago Bernabeu.
Ancelotti would get sacked if he had a trophy-less season with the club. The only condition for the manager to save his job was either to win Copa del Rey or to win the Champions League because winning the League Title was next to impossible for the Los Blancos. And because Real Madrid won the Copa del Rey after nine years under and didn’t have a trophy-less season. The manager will continue till 2024.

Pep Guardiola’s Message to Rio Ferdinand
Both clubs were desperate for playing in the finals after a draw in the first leg of the semi-finals. Last season Man City despite winning the game lost against Real Madrid after the whites scored three goals in a row and snatched the victory from the mouth of Pep Guardiola.
But this year the scenario was all different the tables were turned and Pep managed to win against the 14-time title holder. He didn’t just defeat Madrid he ‘destroyed’ Los Blancos with his tactics and strategies. Before the second leg, Pep quoted “Nothing special. I’m not overthinking, don’t worry guys, nothing different from what we’ve done, just more fluid and play a bit better.
Pep was so confident in his tactics and on his squad that just two hours before the match he texted former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand and said “Pep Guardiola texted me today saying: ‘Believe me, we’ll beat them.’”.
