The clash of the quarterfinals in Champions League
Manchester City will host Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals at the Etihad Stadium. Two of the heavyweights of the competition, both sides will hope to win the match to get the upper hand before they meet in the second leg at the Allianz Arena. The two clubs have been in excellent form this season boasting full of world-class players.
The clubs are challenging for the league titles in their respective divisions while topping their Champions League groups as well. Bayern Munich has won four of their last five matches in the Bundesliga while the Blues come in with a streak of eight consecutive wins. Pep Guardiola will face his former club previously managing the Bavarians for a brief period.
The visitors have great experience in winning the competition. The Blues on the other hand are still looking to win Europe’s most prestigious prize but investments in recent years have seen a squad capable of challenging for the same. Both teams will want to win the competition as there are fierce competitions in the domestic league which may overturn their fortunes in the long run.

Bayern Munich and Manchester City in the Champions League
They have met each other six times both with three wins. Bayern Munich has six titles to their name the most recent coming from the 2019-20 season whereas Manchester City is looking to win the competition and hopes to this time having a ruthless in-form striker Erling Haaland in front of goal and a team built around him to provide all necessary outings for the player.
The Blues won their latest meeting in the Champions League winning 3-2 in the 2014-15 season. However, a lot has changed since then with the squads completely refreshed. Their head-to-head record in all competitions in the previous five matches resulted in City winning three and Bayern with two. It is without a doubt going to be a feisty run of affairs.
Possible eleven
Both clubs will start with their strongest lineups given their recent form. Pep Guardiola will look to insert Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne into the squad, both clear dangermen for the team with the Norwegian scoring 44 goals in all competitions this season and the Belgian with his 100th Premier League assist in their match against Southampton winning 4-1.
Bayern has the most goals scored and least goals conceded in the Bundesliga currently in the first neck on neck with rivals Borussia Dortmund. The squad has been brilliant in all aspects with everyone contributing and Thomas Tuchel wouldn’t want to make too many changes. Joao Cancelo faces his former team though it is unsure if he will start in the lineup.
Manchester City predicted XI: Ederson, John Stones, Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, Rodri, Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, Jack Grealish, Erling Haaland.
Bayern Munich predicted XI: Yann Sommer, Benjamin Pavard, Dayot Upamecano, Matthijs De Ligt, Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Leroy Sane, Thomas Muller, Kingsley Coman, Erik Maxim Choupo-Moting.
