Many people think football and politics should stay separate, but some players find it hard to keep quiet. For instance, Anwar El Ghazi lost his contract with Mainz 05 due to his social media posts in support of Palestine. Likewise, Oleksandr Zinchenko faced backlash for supporting Israel on Instagram and had to take down his posts.

Meanwhile, this Champions League fixture between United and Copenhagen was further halted owing to Marcus Rashford‘s sending in the 42nd of the game.

Manchester United squandered a two-goal lead against FC Copenhagen

It seemed to be a comfortable night for United after Rasmus Hojlund put the visitors up by two goals after just 30 minutes. The game seemed to be out of hand for Copenhagen, that is until Marcus Rashford was sent off after being shown a direct red card in the 42nd minute of the game.

The game’s momentum shifted when the home team scored three minutes after the red card. United then struggled against Copenhagen’s pressure as they gave away a penalty just before half-time. Harry Maguire was charged with a handball. While Andre Onana saved United before, this time Diogo Gonçalves equalized for Copenhagen. The goal made it 2-2 just before the half-time.

Meanwhile, The Red Devils looked on course to win it with a 70th-minute Bruno Fernandes penalty. However, the city of Vikings wrote another twist in the tale for its home team. Two goals in 5 minutes, in the 83rd minute and 88th minute, sealed the deal for Copenhagen. 4-3 on the final scoreline.

This result means that things get tense in Group A with just 2 matches to go as Bayern Munich lead the group (12 points). However, the rest three are all on 4 points. So, there is all to play for in the coming two match weeks, and all eyes will be on this group.
