Reece James, the highly renowned English professional footballer and Chelsea defender, has formally confirmed via his social media accounts that he would not be participating in the forthcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup and will be missing it owing to an injury he recently sustained. The news has caused complete anguish among everyone.
Reece James said, ”Devastated. The minute I injured my knee, I knew the turnaround to make the World Cup would be tight, but I always felt it was possible. I’ve worked harder than I ever thought I could to give myself the best chance of going and I truly believed I could help the team. I appreciate there was risk on both sides but it was one I was willing to take. Good luck to the boys. I’ll be back soon. Stay safe & sending love.”
The injury occurred when he clashed with Theo Hernandez during Chelsea’s victory over AC Milan in the English Premier League. Due to a significant knee injury, he was given an eight-week injury suspension. Graham Potter, the manager of Chelsea, made a similar announcement.
The 22-year-old player is one of their important players, thus it is difficult for England National Football team coach Gareth Southgate as well. Reece James had been summoned by him to inform him of his decision regarding his participation in the FIFA World Cup. Everyone sends him their best wishes for a speedy recovery.

James started working out with Chelsea when he was six years old, but at the age of seven, he spent a brief time with West London rivals Fulham. In March 2017, he made his professional debut with Chelsea. He led the under-18s to the FA Youth Cup victory in the 2017–18 season, winning Academy Player of the Season honors.
James committed to Chelsea until 2028 after signing a new six-year contract on September 5, 2022. In October 2022, his performances were praised, but later that month he injured his knee and needed to consult a specialized physician. Ben Chilwell and he was a wingback pairing at both the club and the international level.
