Football fans and those of Chelsea Football Club in particular will be no strangers to the ‘shouting’ Chelsea fan. Once an internet sensation with his aggressive rant on the club, Chelsea’s loss to Wolves on the weekend forced him to make a comeback. In a viral video, the frustrated fan has a go at the club and boss Mauricio Pochettino for the poor showing against Wolves on Sunday.
Chelsea were thoroughly beaten by their opponents at Stamford Bridge as the club dropped to an embarrassing eleventh position in the table. The ‘angry’ fan didn’t hold back against new signing Christopher Nkunku, aggressively pointing out his lack of effort on the pitch.
In his angry rant, he said,
Nkunku and the rest have played f**kall.
Pochettino was his main target, as he had a go at the boss for revolving the team around the injured player. He made the starting line-up but was unable to contribute to his side’s goal-scoring efforts. Subsequently, the Frenchman was replaced by Carney Chukwuemeka in the 72nd minute.
His video has certainly garnered attention on social media, with many fans laughing at the plight of the north London club. “Pochettino get out!”, yelled the fan as he ended his furious rant.
Mauricio Pochettino’s position under threat as Chelsea find themselves 11th
Mauricio Pochettino was brought in with high hopes to lead the club into the Todd Boehly era. However, 7 months into his ‘regime’ at the club, there isn’t much to show for it. The club is closer to the relegation spot than it is to a top-four finish, and it remains unlikely that they will qualify for any European competition next season. The club’s only hope of security silverware rests on the EFL Cup final on the 25th of this month.
Reports suggest that the manager’s future is currently ‘safe’, given the club’s experience with pulling the plug on a manager halfway into the season. His two-year contract at the club means that an evaluation is on the cards as he nears the end of his first season in the dugout. Pochettino however, cannot be blamed completely, given the club’s unfortunate tryst with injuries.
‘Main man’ Christopher Nkunku missed out on the majority of the first half of the season while captain Reece James has also been sidelined with a ligament tear. If Pochettino is going to retain his position, the club is in dire need of a change in fortune. With games against Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool in their next 5 games, his chances of doing so remain in the balance.
