In his search to leave Amex Stadium this summer, Marc Cucurella faced a lot of interest from Manchester City who is desperately searching for a left-back after the departure of Zinchenko. Chelsea responded at the last moment and stole the player in front of Man City’s noses. The deal was worth €50 million as confirmed by several sources and the contract has been agreed till 2026.

Chelsea has lost a lot of players in the last few weeks with the likes of Antonio Rudiger, Andres Christensen, and Romelo Lukaku already agreeing to deals with other clubs. With Cesar Azpilicueta still in the books of Barcelona, Chelsea would be adamant and hoping to keep their star-studded captain for this season.

How does Chelsea shape up with the arrival of Cucurella into their squad?

After losing their long-time owner Roman Abramovich due to the Russian links, there were a lot of concerns and uncertainty regarding the contracts and salary of several players. And this is why a lot of players have already left on a free transfer and the defense lineup was looking very weak due to that reason. New owner Todd Boehly has responded really well to the fans and has already brought in a great player in Kalidou Koulkibaly to solve the defensive worries.

With Azpilicueta still in the team, Thomas Tuchel can continue to play his ideal 3-4-3 formation with Azpi, Koulibaly, and Thiago Silva in the back. With Reece James and Marcos Alonso as their first choice wings back, Tuchel will have a lot of options with the arrival of Marc Cucurella coming into the squad.

Manchester City was looking to bring in a left-back for a long time and after the departure of Zinchenko, it was only time for Guardiola to bring in Cucurella into his squad. Chelsea responded quickly and hijacked the deal despite them already having two left-backs in Chilwell and Alonso.
