Chelsea considering signing Pierre Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona after a possible move out for Timo Werner: Reports
Chelsea is reportedly considering hiring Pierre Emerick Aubameyang as a possible new striker, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. Chelsea needs a new striker because Timo Werner is about to leave Stamford Bridge to sign with RB Leipzig this summer. Chelsea supporters would be thrilled by the news that the Blues recently spoke with RB Salzburg prodigy Benjamin Sesko.
The transfer journalist goes on to add that talks about a prospective transfer this summer have already taken place with the former Arsenal star. The 33-year-old striker has not yet received an official bid from the Blues, though.
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang to Chelsea?
Romano asserts that Auba is only one of the names Chelsea has considered for striker positions. If Chelsea can pull this off, it would be a completely insane move. The international player from Gabon joined Barcelona in January, and his current deal runs through 2025.
Without a doubt, Auba is a talented striker, but it is obvious that he has a personality quirk that gets him into trouble at every team he joins. At Arsenal, he and Mikel Arteta got into a fight, and if Chelsea believes they can sign him this summer, something must have happened at Barcelona.
Who knows, though; perhaps Todd Boehly is simply looking at alternatives in case he misses his primary target this window. The transfer window was opened by new Blues owner Todd Boehly with the acquisition of Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling. Romelu Lukaku returned to Inter Milan on loan, but it seems Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is still interested in bringing another striker to the club.
Robert Lewandowski, who switched from Bayern Munich to Barcelona, was a lost opportunity for the Premier League team. However, it has cast doubt on Aubameyang’s future at the Nou Camp as a result.
