The home fans lost their cool and started throwing projectiles onto the ground. The visitors stood in the middle, but a pitch invader ran into the pitch to attack them. This enraged the home fans, who also ran into the pitch to attack the visitors.

This followed a brawl between the players and the fans. Batshuayi was seen attempting a high spinning kick on a fan, but missed. Former Queens Park Ranger winger, Bright Osayi-Samuel, was seen punching some fans as well.

I have said it before, and I will say it again - without exception, in football, all players have to be safe and secure to play the game which brings such joy to so many people all over the world. I call on the relevant authorities to ensure that this is respected at all levels and for the perpetrators of the shocking events in Trabzon to be held accountable for their actions.
Gianni Infantino stated

The past few months have been filled with problems for Turkish football. A club president had attacked a referee earlier in the season. Along with that, the Turkish Super Cup which was supposed to be played in Saudi Arabia was postponed due to the nation not granting many requests.
